DIY French Manicures - is there such a thing?

Has anyone out there ever managed to do a descent french manicure on your own nails? You know, with the little white strips for tip and a pink top coat finish? I've tried so many brands and can apply any colour nail polish perfectly, but I always managed to screw up a french manicure.

Anyone got any tips on how to make the white tips look neat?DIY French Manicures - is there such a thing?
yesh... I actually have gotten good enuf to do it over my already painted nail...

but try a white nail polish french tip pen, it'll help lots... u can find it at Bath and Body Works, Sephora, and some drugstores/walmarts have it in the nail section...

but what I usually do (which is what manicurists do) is paint the tip of my toes white and use a q-tip (well they use a brush) soaked in nail polish remover to create the clean line, and use ORLY french manicure polish (i use a color thats pink and opaque) and paint over the exposed nail...

and cover with top coat. BAM! French mani!DIY French Manicures - is there such a thing?
Yeah, I always do my nails like that. It takes a lot of practice to get the white strip just right with a regular nail polish applicator.

Though, they do have the nail polish pens that you can use. You can find these at Wal-Mart. They're really cheap and easy to use, I assume. I've never personally used one.

Maybe you could try that out.
yes use ';french tape'; there is such a thing. its made specifically for these.

altho french manicures are not very popular right now....for a reason. they look sort of gross if done wrong.
