As a guy, the French manicure (what I think you're describing) is the ONLY style I consider classy (and they always will be, IMO, because they're simple and clean, but they dress it up a little). Most other nail finishings (weird colours, little icons, etc) are just cheesy.

And if you want to jazz it up a little pick a color and use it as a ';french tip'; instead of white.
