Is it normal for manicures and pedicures to hurt a little?

Only have had a few done... This sounds so silly... but when she is pushing the cuticles back and pushing around the edges on my fingernails and toenails it HURTS!!! bad enough i want to say STOP! haha. really, is that normal? On the other hand, I love them and I can't believe I never discovered these things until I was 25!Is it normal for manicures and pedicures to hurt a little?
yes, i feel the same way as you, and i just thought no one felt that way..i thought i was the only one!Is it normal for manicures and pedicures to hurt a little?
YES ONCE I GOT ARTIFICIAL NAILS ON, AND JUST MY THUMB HURTS LIKE HELL
you should just ask for the manicure or pedicure without them pushing the cuticles back... however if its not that much pain you should have them push it back and remove the dead skin
No thats not normal,She is pushing to hard, you may have very sensitive cticales but when the push on them it may feel a little uncomfortable but its not sopose to hurt at ALL!The next time you go,Tell them you have Extra Sensative cuticales and if they push to hard it hurts!{Also you may want to add,';I hate pain and if I get alot,Your tip may Get Hurt!LOL!}THe reasons I now this,is because one of my sister,s is a manicure and i have Friends who Are!Good Luck!Hollywood
They use a chemical and also soak your feet and fingernails so the cuticle is very soft and it is not supposed to hurt. If it is hurting you need to make sure they know it is and let you soak longer or use more softener. Also, you may be going to long between sessions. Between these sessions get yourself a manicure set and push your cuticles back after soaking in soapy water yourself. Spa days are to be enjoyed while you are pampered, not painful.
if it really hurts tell her to do it more gentle you shouldn't be in pain it should be relaxing
no it is not suppose to hurt, and although they are GREAT you should tell the person that it hurts b/c 1 they could be doing damage to your cuticles, and two they might not know that they are causeing pain.
I don't know but, mami, tu eres muy bonita! I can be your sugar daddy!
it always is......specially to inexperience manicurist..
yes
Well I cant answer this for other people, but it doesnt hurt me...in fact i almost fall asleep until they tell me to move to the next table!
NOT THE WAY YOU ARE DESCRIBING! Because you say you feel good afterwards, I think the manicurist is TOO ROUGH!

Don't feel embarrassed to say ';STOP, IT HURTS';. You are paying your money and this might hurt your feet in the long run. If she/he does not, go to another salon.
yeaaaaa! it hurts for me too...im like...yea thats good..u can stop now! lol...i think it should only hurt during and seeing what u said...i think its normal...and yes they look fab when they're done!

~SmS~
it does a little but if your in excruiiating pain thenthere's a problem, u can buy cutile cream that make it easy to push back and you can do it yourself try burts bee's cuticle sream(it smells good too) : - )
If it hurts for you, then it must hurt EVERYBODY. There is no difference in Human Form, so whatever HURTS YOU must HURT EVERYBODY in the same form.. If it doesnt then the BALANCE of COLLECTIVE CONSCIOUSNESS or COLLECTIVE UNITY is affected and that again is a LIABILITY to be repaid ; God will say if you spoiled it you fix it.
My ex had them done alot, but then She was use to the

bumps and grinds.

It doesn't really hurt She would say, just sometimes

things where a little sensitive.
yeah, if they are pulling while clipping the cuticles, it hurts. let them know that it's hurtin just a tad. sometimes they feel a bit agressive...or want to take their anger out on your little piggies. =) u're the customer, and are therefore right. let them know so u get better service.
yes it hurts, until you get used to it,

but in my fingernails i do not let them to remove it.

i have my pedicures monthly, manicures occasionally only
I actually don't like manicure/pedicures really because of that. ow
yeah a little bit
As a man I do not officially know what you are talking about, although I occasionally push my cuticles back and it hurts like hell...

There is nothing cute about them - I think we should change their name!! Horrible-icles maybe...?
I first got acrylic nails done when I was 30. Managed to deal with the discomfort with them,

What is really painful was when I went to glassfibre wraps. They use this spray on your nails, and it feels like hot needles are being shoved under the nails.
It should never hurt. A good manicurist will never hurt you, and you should be able to close your eyes while they work and not be able to feel what they are doing. If it hurts, try to find somewhere else to go, or ask them not to push the cuticles back.
Minimal pain, yes. But if it continues, stop going to the salon and see your doctor.

uh ya.
I think it is normal. It hurts sometimes when I get it done.
If they are trimming your cuticles, of course it might hurt a little. Pain is very subjective to an individual anyway.
from my knowledge it is just dependends on your pain tolerance
Yeah same thing happens to me too! I feel like screaming at them to stop. But umm... yeah I think its normal... .But it could depend on the person giving you the manicure and pedicure. maybe they are being to rough
When I get a manicure or a pedicure I find it kind of hurts when the manicurist or nail technician pushes back my cuticles but not bad enough to say stop. You could try ask the person doing it to be gentle while pushing back the cuticle ?
