I am a nail technician and I would like to hear your stories. What do you look for when choosing a nail tech?
Ex:
--Cleanliness
--Quality of work
--Nail ';Care'; and Recovery Not Just ';Beauty';
--Atmosphere
--Conversation
--Appointment Management
--Price
--Menu Choices (Too many or not enough)
--Service Time(s)
--Massage (';Hurry up, I'm late'; or ';Slow down, what's the rush?';)
--Nightmare Experiences and Heavenly Ones? Tell me about themManicures and Pedicures: What Is Most Important To You When Getting A Manicure or Pedicure?
I would love to be a pedicurists. Tell me did you go to school to learn it. And i would guess quality of work as the most importantManicures and Pedicures: What Is Most Important To You When Getting A Manicure or Pedicure?
i would say definatly cleanliness and price i dont want to put my feet in a tub thats been used by someone with corns and not washed properly! i want to see the tub being cleaned correctly and cleaned again if i ask. also price is a big issue. dont make your customers over pay for a crappy job. if they arent pleased offer a discount on this or the next job. just make sure they have a legit. reason in your eyes.
for me, i would have to say that the cleanliness, quality of work and price are important, but THE most important thing in ';conversation';.
when doing a pedicure, converastion is limited because the client is probably reading a magazine, but when the client is having a manicure done, all she can do is look around and if you're not talking to her, she'll feel uncomfortable, which is NOT the image you want the salon to be. When you talk to the client, she'll feel more relaxed, making the salon / spa a calmer and inviting atmosphere. so just talking to the client isnt just for her, but for the salon aswell!

Listed most important:
1. price
2. atmosphere includes sanitary guidelines- spa place
3. conversation- a real conversation
4. quality of work- PROFESSIONALISM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would return and became a regular client if these are most prominent
Cleanliness and quality of work are so crucial! Its so important to have clean tools and and equipment! Quality of work is key too...its so disappointing to get a pedi and have it look like I did it at home!
The other key thing that will make you stand out in my opinion, is the massage! The fabulous foot massage I get from my nail tech is the real reason I keep going back to her!!! She gives such a great massage that I fall asleep in the chair half the time!
Please be good at doing french polish! Those thick white lines are so tacky and ugly!
All of your points listed are important, and I'm going to add a few and comment!
--Convenience ';to get to and parking';
--Ability to help with a nail emergency, we all have them
--The overall energy of the environment of the shop ';music, smells, noise levels of equipment and clients, color, ambiance, and decor'; it's got to FEEL right in the shop.
--The staff must be regular, not changing every appointment
--Well versed in the business, professionally trained and attentive to emerging trends in the industry
--Membership in professional associations and active in the local business community.
--Extending the courtesy of a reminder call for appointments.
Now having said this the most important thing if all the other importnat things have been well attended to, they must be sincere in their desire to care for my hands and feet, and one can tell when someone really cares, this being very important to me. Treat the customers right and word of mouth will keep you gainfully employed always, fail this and no amount of advertising will save your business.
Creativity is by far the most important factor when chosing a nail tech. I'd like my nails to look better than everyone elses and better than mine have ever looked.
