Why do you girls get pedicures and manicures? Isn't this something that you can do yourselve?

Just curious.Why do you girls get pedicures and manicures? Isn't this something that you can do yourselve?
I think they massage your feet and it's very relaxing. I've never had one, but I want to. I'm crap at painting my nails.Why do you girls get pedicures and manicures? Isn't this something that you can do yourselve?
well I go get mine done once a week, as well as pedicures and massages ( after school)

I do it all myself.
it's a lot of work; i've done it myself many times. i have never had it done professionally, but now that i have a 3 month old i want to. plus they massage you - can't beat that

they use all professional stuff, like acrylic gel. And they massage your feet when you get a pedicure..


its a nice break.


and its nice to get pampered.

i dont get them! i hate the sound of a nail file (gives me goose bumps) and i hate when someone touches my toes, ESPECIALLY my pinky toe! i go crazy!! my fiance tries to rub my feet, and he touches my pinky toe by accident, and i have a mini freak out. so, i just dont do neither. i dont paint my nails either, im really not a girly girl. but, i can see why girls get them done. it feels good to have someone else pamper you. i wish i didnt have such a complex about these things, otherwise, i would probably try to pedicure.
Yes, but why not have someone else do it for you who is more skilled....AND at my place they give you a foot massage and you sit in really awesome massage chairs :-)
If you're skilled, yes. I can't paint my own nails worth a damn.

And how can you relax when you're straining your back to buff your feet, or have to pay attention to the painting process?


Girls get these things done so they can have an hour or two of pure bliss where they don't have to think. They can just be pampered.


Of course...not everyone has the money to get these things done. So, we DIY them at home. :) But if you have the money, then, why not?
I Hate pedicures.. And I am a geek so I cant play xbox and pc with long nails. So I pain them my self or me and my sister paint each others. Its hard to do it my self, but whatever its not like they have to be perfect. Nail salons smell bad.

Seriously it's part of the primate grooming and as people are primates they are wired to feel ';good'; when being groomed. Thus pedicures and manicures as well as hair salon visits are popular things to do. You know you go to the hair stylist who does a little head massage because it makes you feel tingly all over.

Not as well as they can do it at the beauty salon, it's not something I can afford very often, but occasionally it is nice for a treat.
Not really.. They go to school to get licenses for that stuff. Besides I wouldn't want to rip my own cuticles out. And it's hard to work on your right hand if you're left handed, or vice versa. Ya see?
