Have you ever heard or Powder Gel Manicures?

My friend from across the country said that she gets her manicure done differently. They use a powder and and mix it with some liquid, but it's much more durable than Acrylic or Gel nails.

Anybody know what the heck she is talking about?Have you ever heard or Powder Gel Manicures?
Those LeChat nail gel powder products are basically an acrylic dip system. It is not the same as UV nail gel, thus it is weaker and inferior to real UV nail gels.

From the way you describe it, the nails your friend is getting acrylic nails, and not gel nails at all. There are essentially three types of nails that are offered. There is acrylic nails which is often referred to as a liquid and powder system. There is also UV gel nails, and there are wraps as well. With real UV gel nails, liquid and powder is never used. If a tech uses any powder on your nails, you have acrylic nails, not gel nails. Gel is never a powder, despite the name that some companies such as LeChat call them. They uses acrylic and soak off gel in this particular system. It is not anywhere as near as strong as real UV nail gels, nor does it last as long. Its a cheap, and easy way for a tech to do nails which requires little to no skill to apply..

You see, many of the inexpensive, walk in salons offer very cheap nails and fast service. These salons are welll known to scam people by telling them they are getting gel nails when they are really giving them acrylic nails - yet they charge them for gel nails which are typically higher priced than acrylic nails are. Some will go as far as telling an unsuspecting customer that the 'powder' is powder gel, when it is really nothing more than acrylic powder. Trust me when I say that many, many girls are walking around with what they believe to be gel nails, when they are - in reality, nothing more than ordinary acrylic nails. It soulds like your friend is one of them. Don't believe everything a nail tech tells you, especially in the cheap salons. Buyer beware...Have you ever heard or Powder Gel Manicures?
