Manicures/Pedicures, is it just disrespectful, disgusting, awesome?

I mean you have a woman essentially bowing down to you on your plush throne while she scrapes away at your unclean calloused feet.





OR is it perfectly fine, she is making money, it's the coolest?





Manicures just seem lazy. How can you not maintain yourself?Manicures/Pedicures, is it just disrespectful, disgusting, awesome?
They went to school for what they do. Its not like that is the only job they could get. They have to go to beauty school for it.. So they like what they do. I don't feel bad at all. I am a Hairstylist and I know first hand that they like what they do, Don't feel disgusting at all. When I first started out I was Doing Nails. It didn't bother me.. People want there feet to look nice.. Nothing wrong with that..Manicures/Pedicures, is it just disrespectful, disgusting, awesome?
Disrespectful? No, it's another form of grooming for both genders, what's disrespectful about it?





Wouldn't say it's the coolest but I hear a lot of people find it relaxing and it's low risk, noninvasive cosmetic procedure which really does enhance the appearance of the involved areas.





I might be wrong but I don't think most people don't go under their nails to dig out dead skin. And if some people tried they may wind up hurting themselves, so it is probably better left to professionals ;p
Well, maybe not the coolest but to me it's just like any other job. Maybe a job I wouldn't do myself, but still. I've never got a pedicure done, I like to take care of my own feet and I must admit that I'm not really dedicated to it, I do it very seldom. I'm picky and I wouldn't like someone to hurt me, or to touch my feet with stuff that has touched who-knows-who-else's feet. I only got a manicure done once and I don't like my cuticle to be cut off (could be bad for your health), plus my nails grow nice and strong so I don't need to get fake ones, so I also take care of my own hands when I'm in the mood and have the time.
Personally I get manicures and pedicures biweekly. I don't see the person doing my nails as subservient. In fact, a part of me is jealous, if I knew how to do my nails as well as they do (and believe me I've tried) I'd be a very happy girl. They chose to go into that field.





By your reasoning, restaurants should be out of business as well. Isn't it just lazy to go somewhere and pay to have someone cook for you and serve you. Waiters and waitresses are basically kissing your a$$ for a little bit more of a tip...
What about going out and getting your hair done? Why should someone stand behind you and scrub your dandruff-filled head and cut off your own hair when you could do it yourself? SO LAZY.





And what about waiters and waitresses? They have to wear some stupid uniform, come over to your table, while you demand food and a drink, and they have to carry tray after tray out to you. SO LAZY. *Sarcasm*





Honestly, she chose it for a job. She probably likes it! They've been trained to do this work. She gets paid to do this. It's exactly like someone doing your hair, doing your make-up, serving you food, etc. These people are THERE to help you. They get paid!





Besides, it's not like most people go to get a manicure every weekend -- Most women, if at all, go once every one or two months. It's a little treat!
Well it just depends on the outlook from your point of view. For me, if you go to get a manicure or pedicure, your paying the people to do it. If they think it is disgusting, then why is that particular job the one they signed up for?
first of all, the people that do this get paid good money, and they like doing this. otherwise, they wouldn't have spent their money going to cosmetic school for their certificate.





secondly, people pay people to do their grooming job because they can!! plus, manicurists are experts!! i mean, who else is going to make a pretty flower on your toe?! :P
manicures kinda hurt, but it the end you feel so refreshed, and your nails look good :]





pedicures are AMAZING they rub your legs and all but sometimes it tickles for me when they do the little thing on the bottom of your foot haha
I only do it when i want to be pampered...every year or so...between them, i do my own nails and toenails and they look awesome
Its their job, they dont have to do it if they dont want to. I have never gotten either done. It seems like a waste of money to me
Manicures and pedicures are fun. I could go for both right now. Of course you ';maintain yourself'; it's just fun to get pampered once in a while. And they are getting paid.
I hate it. And french nails look disgusting. You should be able to keep your feet nice looking, I do it and I'm 13. They are really lazy too.
i think it's fine since she chose to do that and she's getting lotsa money.

I am 25 (female, of course) and I have NEVER gotten my nails done. I like to keep them really short, with no nail polish
