How long should a professional manicure last?

I am a stay at home mom and not especially careful with my nails. I wear gloves for gardening and put clear coat on every day. My manicure starts to look bad after about 4 or 5 days. It is me or do I need to find a better nail salon? How long should a professional manicure last?
You shouldnt put a clear coat on everyday the thicker the polish the easier to damage.. my manicure lasts for about a week 2 weeks max.

. Make sure you have a very clean nail plate before applying polish. The natural oils on your nail, lotion or a piece of cotton fiber will make the polish peel. I like to strip the nails by swabbing them with Sea Breeze or nail polish remover.

2. Always use a base coat and top coat. It's sometimes tempting to skip them if you're in a hurry. But remember, it's not worth it if your polish chips faster. The base coat acts as a foundation for your manicure, and the top coat is a protectant for your polish.

3. Let each coat dry for a couple of minutes before applying another. This allows the polish to set so the next layer adheres better.

4. Wear gloves whenever you do a job in water or dirt: dishes, cleaning, gardening.

5. Try not to use your nails as tools. Concentrate on using the pads of your fingers and not the tips of your fingers when you reach, grab, hold and type. How long should a professional manicure last?
I have gotten numerous manicures from many different salons, and their quality varies. They can last anywhere from 2-4 days up to 2 weeks.

The best way to get your manicure to last a long time is to find a quality salon and take good care of the results. A good manicure will usually not involve trimming cuticles and they will most likely use a nail hardening agent after they are finished. Be sure to let your polish dry thoroughly after getting it done, and touch up with clear polish (especially on the tips to avoid chipping) to keep your mani looking fresh.
try a different salon. mine lasts for a little over a week.
BETTER NAIL SALON..MYNE USUALLY LAST UP TO 2 WEEKS AT THE LEAST
that's usually just how long they last... it starts to chip when you take a shower or whatever.

don't worry, i hate that too! :-)
I think that's how long they should last if you're doing all that work. Especially washing dishes and stuff like that can mess them up from the chemicals. It's normal for someone who does alot of hands-on activities.
It usually takes a week. Usually when the coat chips or nails chips. Then it is time to change. I personally think OPI nail polish is the best. Look out for these when you are in the store.
if you take good care of it, 5-7 days.

What is better a spa manicure or a regular pedicure?

For my birthday my friend gave me a 25 dollar gift certificate and a spa manicure and a regular pedicure both cost 25 dollars. Ive never had ether of them so i don't know what to expect please help me?What is better a spa manicure or a regular pedicure?
i would probaly go with the manicure..... it has more!!!

......................................鈥?br>

hope this helpedWhat is better a spa manicure or a regular pedicure?
For the manicure, they clean your hands up, cut your nails, shape your nails, file them, and then paint them. They usually do a few coats. They end up quite pretty! For a pedicure, they wash and massage your feet, cut-file- and shape your nails, then paint them with a few coats. They both turn out very pretty and mine have lasted around 2 weeks to a month.
id go for the pedi. w/manicures the nail polish seems to start to chip after a few days. I do dishes and clean the kitchen maybe this is why. the pedicures last longer and are perfect for summer since you wear sandals most of the time :o)

How do you keep a manicure from chipping?

I got a manicure today, Sunday, and I need it to last for Sunday. It was stupid of me and I probably should have waited, but too late. I have real nails and I got a french manicure. Does anyone have any tips so I can keep it from chipping this week? Thanks. How do you keep a manicure from chipping?
Put a coat of clear topcoat every other day, or daily. Sally Hanson's Mega Shine or Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat are both great. Also, wear gloves when cleaning or doing dishes. How do you keep a manicure from chipping?
not getting one lol

What does a regular manicure consist of?

Like just clear nails or a color and then the white tip?

There is a place im going to go to and it says manicures are 15 dollars.

What all will they do for that 15 dollars most likely?

Can you get colored with white tips?

And how exactly do they put the white tips on?What does a regular manicure consist of?
a manicure with the white tips is called a french manicure, they are just painted on with white polish and then a nude/ pink on top. you usually pay extra for french.

depends on how long the manicure goes for as to what they do if its 1/2 hour then its file, cuticle work (push back and trim), and polish in a colour.

if it's an hour or 45min it'd be file/shape, cuticle work, cuticle treatment, massage and polish. What does a regular manicure consist of?
A regular manicure is all on your natural nail.

1. trim file shape the nail

2. soak the fingers in warm disinfecting water to soften cuticle

3. apply cuticle cream and push back and or trim cuticle

4. lotion massage on hand and maybe arm

5.remove oils from nail

6. solid color polish (more than one color or design will cost extra)
um first off you have two different services on here.... are you getting a manicure or are you getting tips(nail enhancements) cause if tips are only $15 i would really not go to that salon....now if you're getting a regular manicure then it will consist of your nails being filed and shaped, cuticles pushed back(not cut)hands soaked in warm water or pariffin wax, hand massage, nail beds dehydrated, base coat, color or french mani, top coat.....

Do you like french manicures?

Are french manicures in or out? I can't decide if I like them or if they're tacky! I used to do them all the time but now I'm not sure. What do you think?Do you like french manicures?
in or out? Does it really matter if some people think they're ';out';? French manicures are cute, and if they look good on your nails, then wear them. Nobody is going to gossip about you because you have a french manicure, so wear it!Do you like french manicures?
I like french manicures. I think their cute, but i don't think they're in. + I'm not such a manicured person, cus i'm not so fond of its scent. I think you should get your nails done in your favorite color, get a design (picture) on your thumbs, and if they have rinestones, get that (: They're are really cute.

My aunts works at nail salons and they always so my cousins nails with like a pink background, 2 yellow flowers, along with a small rhinestone in the center of the rhinestones, it's amazing %26lt;3
French Manicures are always appropriate for weddings, proms, homecomings, etc.

You can get a different color besides white, or ask them to inset a little gem/rhinestone on the white that way there is a little sparkle on you finger.
I love french manicures! I think there really cute and i doubt they would ever would be out of style. i think there a great way to do your nails without to much or too little. so i hope i helped.
french manicures NEVER go out of style in my book! i love them. you could try to mix it up by getting the tips in a different color or something but it think french manicures look clean and natural. i say go for it :)
I think they are kind of tacky, esp. the ones with the colors. Sometimes I do get french manicures, only when my nails are shorter so they just look clean %26amp; simple.
i like them, they're cute.

i think they look bad when people do black

tips or not just clear with white tips... but like purple

and black and all kinds of weird combinations.

and those long claw ones are hideous.
i love them! but only acrylics.

they seeem to look best if there with acrylics. or if you have the nails for them you can pull them off without acrylics

and french tip will always be in style
theyre very cute. i do my own toes but i bite my fingernails so i would have to get them done. but dont wanna pay outrageous prices.

but you should def get them!
I like them but it varies from person to person . . . and I like the designs you can put on your nails there pretty cool
i do love french manicures because it looks neat and very feminine. :)

well, i think you should try on nail art.
I don't like them. If you have short finger nails they don't look very good. Try to mix up a french manicure with a different color and something...
i like them i like them classy like white i dont like diffrent colors like blue or pink nails they look kind of unusual
i love them it goes with everything but i only like the square tips
ya but the white is getting old so do unique random color
Out
Out, just like the 80s
no even when they were in
i looooove them!!

  • What is the difference between a spa manicure and a regular manicure?

I am planning to take my girlfriend to Vegas in April and was planning something nice. I was looking at the Spa treatments and knew I had to get her a manicure. Does anyone know the difference between the Spa Manicure and the Manicure? (This is at Treasure Island in Vegas by the way)What is the difference between a spa manicure and a regular manicure?
Every salon is different and every salon or spa offers different versions of a manicure and spa manicure. Typically a regular manicure consists of a soak, file and cuticle care, hand and arm massage and polish. A spa manicure (at least the ones I give) consist of everything above including an exfoliating scrub and a paraffin treatment. Some nail techs offer a hand mask in place of the scrub or paraffin. What is the difference between a spa manicure and a regular manicure?
Well I know that a Spa Pedicure is when they have kinda like a bath for your feet. I'm not sure what a spa manicure is sry! good luck

    Can men get french manicures?

if they can,how do u tell the nail artist?wont they not allow it?cause its gay.i want to get a french manicure on my fingers and toes. Can men get french manicures?
If the nail people can get money, They for sure will do it.But it might cost a little more money. Can men get french manicures?
    Yes you can....

I have been getting Man/Pedi for some time now.Typically my fingers and toes are done with a clear coat only.

I must say though, that on occasion I have had a french style done on my toes, as well as having them painted dark blue or black.

    Go for it!
    You can.

No one can stop you, because it'd be against the rights listed in the constitution. It is a little strange though. Clear coats, and maybe a pedicure/massage would be alright though.

It's up to you though I guess.

Manicures and pedicures aren't only girl things I suppose.
Just walk in a nail salon and say you want to get your nails did and just ask them to give a french mani/pedi. As long as they get money, of course they'll do it. If you go to an Asian place, they may talk about you in their language but whatever, do what you like.
Yes. You can. The nail artist is paid in full to do her/his job, so she/he should be happy to do it. If they laugh, that is their problem. You can. I think it is okay, but get a natural tan color for your nails, or a clear coat.
Go for it!!! They'll do it! ..and if not, spend your $ somewhere else! But, I would think anyone (for the most part) would do it with no questions. I think it'll look great, and It'll make you feel nice and girlie and cute! Do it!
Yes you can just go and say, Hi I want a French manicure and pedicure.

I see guys at the saloon all the time to get their hands, feet and eyebrows and they are not necessary gay.....
    they have to do it.

    it doesnt matter if they think it ';gay';

if ur paying them, they have to do it.
They'll do anything to your nails that you want them to as long as you're a paying customer.
money is money so they wont give you a problem, but i wouldnt advise doing it.
yeah they'll do it, they may just look at you kinda funny thats all!:)
you could but it would look weird lol. why not just get clear or something
    wtf no
no if they get money for it they're fine. lol. but just get like a clear coat...

Guys, what do you think of girls having french manicures?

it seems like all the cool popular (heh) all have them so there's gotta be a reason because they dont get any other nail style most of the time besides french tips.

http://flickr.com/photos/reihime/2268940074/Guys, what do you think of girls having french manicures?
i don't like them on people. they look fake cause they are fake, no one really believes they are really your nails.Guys, what do you think of girls having french manicures?
I love them. They match with every outfit!!!

How to manicure your nails like a pro without the right equipment?

I am 15 years old and want to start making my nails look absolutely gorgeous. I don't have the proper equipment at all (besides a nile file). I've read articles which tell me I need to file, buff and push back my cuticles with 'an orange stick'. First of all what exactly is buffing and its purpose and how can I do it without a nail buffer? Also, can I use for instance a tooth pick to push back my cuticles? How to manicure your nails like a pro without the right equipment?
Buffing is just polishing the surface of your nail. You can get a slight buffing effect by using a soft cloth, like a chamois, and rubbing it over the surface of your nails. You can use your own nails to push back your cuticles. It is easiest to do when they are soft, like after you've come out of the shower. How to manicure your nails like a pro without the right equipment?
make sure you have everything you need before you start. i wouldn't worry about buffing...if you do the paint right, you won't need to.

don't use a toothpick. use something with a blunt edge to push back your cuticles. like the end of a tablefork handle.

cut your nails straight across (if you have clippers)

use your file to round off the corners. remember to file in one direction only, don't do that back-and-forth motion, it creates jagged edges.

go wash your hands with soap and water. dry them good.

you should dip the brush, pull one side along the bottle top as you bring it out to remove excess, and paint one line down the middle of the nail, then dip the brush the same way again and fill in either side. try to use the least amount of strokes possible to cover the nail. if you keep painting over and over the paint gets sticky. do all your nails. let dry a few minutes.

get some q-tips, dip them in polish remover, and clean up the edges of your fingers, and whatever other mistakes you made.

paint a second coat. let dry a few minutes.

then paint on a topcoat, with plain clear, or i like to use silver glitter in a clear coat...it jazzes up any color. with the top coat, you have to be quick! if you stroke too much, you will start pulling up the color. dip the brush, don't remove the excess this time, and get that topcoat on quick.

now you need to let dry thoroughly.

*btw you can manicure sets with everything you need supercheap, like less than 5 bucks. an orange stick is really just an orange stick and its cheap too

*do NOT apply moisterizer to your hands and nails before you paint as some people will tell you to do...that will only make the paint peel. all your work will be for nothing when your paint starts coming up the next day, or the first time you wash your hands.

you should use hand lotion on a regular basis, just not right before you do your nails. lotion should keep your cuticles and skin from drying out.

*do NOT soak your nails before you file them as some people will tell you to do...it will damage them. i find that soaking is unnecessary altogether, but if you want to do it, do it after you file, during the step where i say to wash your hands.

    hope it comes out pretty!!!
Nail buffing is the act of `polishing' the nail using buffers of successively finer grit. it can increase the blood circulation to the nail bed. Buffing off the ridges also gives a smoother surface for the polish to adhere to. Actually buffing leaves such an attractive sheen to the nails, that you might skip the polishing step. After all, buffed nails cannot chip.Buffing encourages the nails to grow thanks to the improved circulation. This procedure also helps to remove surface stains.

For buffing you can use a traditional buffer or a piece of chamois. You can find the traditional manicure kit from Big lot at very low price (just $1/$2) Apply a little buffing cream to the nails and then buff in one direction

Don't use tooth pick to push back cuticles, you might hurt yourself.

  • Women, when you get manicures, do you prefer it to be done by an Asian woman?

I don't care who performs it (male or female) however, I do wish they all spoke English.Women, when you get manicures, do you prefer it to be done by an Asian woman?
I don't really mind what their nationality is. As long as it looks good, it's fine with me. However, practically all manicure salons I go to have only Asian manicurists, so I always end up having them do my nails and all of them do it well.Women, when you get manicures, do you prefer it to be done by an Asian woman?
Well, I just prefer someone who knows what they are doing. Actually the place I go to, the Asian man is the best. :)
as long as they are good manicurists.. doesn't matter what is their nationality.

Does anyone else find french manicures to be sexy on women?

If the nails aren't too long, Yeah I do.

Do real men get manicures and pedicures?

Some do. It's not like they're getting false nails put on! They just want to keep themselves nice and care about what they look like. There's nothing feminine about caring what you look like and wanting to have something nice done for yourself.

What constitutes a ';real man'; anyways? I would say it's someone who's responsible, goal oriented and not intimidated by his sexuality to the point that he wouldn't get a manicure if he wanted one. Others may disagree and say that a real man is someone who doesn't do anything but watch football, drink beer and be a jackass all day but honestly they're loosers.Do real men get manicures and pedicures?
ABSOLUTELY!!! Just because your a man does not mean that you can't get mani/pedi's. Any man who cares about his hygiene would definitely benefit from this! Some male clients just like the fact that there nails are clean and free of hangnails. Men should take care of their feet. There are many salons that cater to men only thus taking out the fear of being ';stereotyped';. Men....Women love a man who takes care of himself!! Do real men get manicures and pedicures?
no....REAL men have jobs where we use our hands and we actually WORK for a living and don't have time for all that girlie bullsh*it.....even those of us who are senior managers and can afford it wouldn't be caught dead in a salon getting our nails and feet done.....
Sure...why not look your best and take care of yourself? I had them done before but I can also do it myself. Women do the same things we do when we look at them.. they check us out, they don't want to see dirt under fingernails or unpolished shoes or even when you go to the beach, just make sure your feet look well taken care of! It's not that difficult to do!
Real Men, work outside, and don't care about what they look like, and enjoy getting sweaty.

Men, that get manicures and pedicures are called metrosexuals.

    And AREN'T real men..

    :)
yeah, they actually do,but not colored polish. They just clean up their nails and file them and clip them so they are nice and groomed, then i think they put a clear polish on them, but im not sure about that. FYI im not a guy.
    Absolutely.
some do, but they don't put like polish on, they just get pampered
metrosexuals do and they're sexy as hell!!
    Nope. Just fake men.
    Just Clay Aiken.
Not in this neck of the woods
    no.
    yes

Do you get turned on by girls' manicures or real nails that are long or semi-long???

    I do! lol

especially when they're colored red or clear or pink the most. xDDo you get turned on by girls' manicures or real nails that are long or semi-long???
I think that natural, shorter nails are very classy. I absolutely HATE those nasty acryllic ones where girls get designs all over them. It makes them look really trashy. And they get them done to where they are and inch and a half long, and it looks horrible. Just a regular looking nail is the most tasteful in my opinion.Do you get turned on by girls' manicures or real nails that are long or semi-long???

When having manicures and pedicures ?

first, how often should i get them

and does using metal tools damage the skin?

    honest answers please

thank youWhen having manicures and pedicures ?
You should get one once in two weeks. I know because my mom and dad owns a nail shop!! Using metal tools do not damage the skin. When having manicures and pedicures ?
hi, i think a good time to get them is once a month, no metal tools don't damage the skin they do how ever weaken the nail if you have to get much puffed but usually you only have to get it done light so it dose hardly nothing after a few days they will strengthen! hope i helped! good luck! :O)
A manicure will usually last you about 2 weeks, and a pedicure will usually last you about 1 month. The metal tools do not damage the skin, they simply maintain your cuticle and whatnot. However, I would not recommend getting them so often, since it's really not necessary, and it costs a ton of money. If you did this for one year, and a manicure costs $10 and a pedicure costs $20, it would cost you a total of almost $500. Maybe once a month treat yourself to a mani, and every 2 months for a pedi.

What is the average price for manicures? (full set)?

i pay 22 for acrylic and 30 for gel sets i love the gel sets more they seem to be more durable and look more natural fill ins for the acrylic i pay 13 and gel i pay 20 but it is worth itWhat is the average price for manicures? (full set)?
$20-30 even. I don't know why some of these people are saying $7 and $12........listen to the manicurist. (yes, me)What is the average price for manicures? (full set)?
In northern California - 20-25 for a full set, 15-18 for a fill, one color polish and no nail art - no french manicure wither.
    manicure $7 full set $12
It depends. If you're getting fake nails, it should cost you from $20 to $35. If you're getting a manicure without fake nails, it should cost from $7 to %26amp;15.
$18- $30 is how mush i usually pay.
depending on wether or not you get it done proffessionally around 20-50 dollors
It really depends on were you go but usually....

    manicure- 15-23 dollars

    pedicure 23-27 dollars

french manicures and pedicures are more exspensive usually about 5 to 10 dollars extra.

have fun with you manicure and pedicure hopefully I helped.
    40 bucks

that is if you go somewhere cheapish

if you live where i do, its 50-60

I have dry cuticles and my nail dont grow, I've tried getting manicures lotions.....?

My cuticle are so dry they crack and bleed, plus i pick at them, not bite but i'm a bad picker. To the point where they bleed, i cant help it. I wear gloves at nite with lots of vaseline. That helps but once i stop i'm back with dry nails. Help..........I have dry cuticles and my nail dont grow, I've tried getting manicures lotions.....?
Okay, try lotioning regularly with a good lotion that is specifically for hands. Avon is a good one, but baby oil also works fine. take it with you and don't take your beautiful hands for granted. As far as kicking the habit, that is a matter of will power. They say that any habit can be formed or broken in 30 days. So, if you can refrain from picking for 30 days you should be good. Baby steps. take it a day at a time. And reward yourself when you get through a day without doing it! Before you know it you won't even think about it and you won't be doing it either!

As far as growing them: when I was a kid a saw this teenager with kick a$$ nails and I asked her how she got them - she told me that she stuck them in fresh garlic. I was like WHAT? But she swore by it. I tried it and it worked! Bad side, my nails were yellow! Disturbing! It looked like I had diabetes. Then I read in a magazine that drumming you nails (like when you are being impatient) makes them grow. It does! It also makes them stronger. And they are NOT yellow! I have been doing it for a good 15 years. And get complimented on my nails regularly :0) Hope you have the same results!

my goodness. Men who want to take care of their hands for themselves or their women certainly shouldn't be labeled as gay. I used to give the guy I was dating manicures all the time. He was a little weird about it the first time because of this 'homophobic' thing guys have, but when I explained that those rough nails and hands scratched my skin, he would sit next to me once a week, grab the nail file and hold out one hand.

I consider it a 'real man' who is not ashamed to want to take care of something as important as his hands ... pedicures are good too.
Yes, my bf works in the trades and I can't stand his ruff

hands, so come Fri, I have him get a manicure. And he

rather likes it, because it gets all the dead stuff off, and he says he can touch my skin without feeling guilty, and if u are a lawyer u should have good looking hands.or

a business man differently, u want to look professional.

So I say go for it.
why not?? I mean. if u r 2 lazy 2 do it urself!!!
Why not? As a straight man, I work directly with the public. I do not want to have filthy fingernails or nasty hangnails. People judge me by what they see. I need to be an example to them. Have a manicure.
If they're homosexual it's fine yes
of course.....grubby nails are NOT a turn on. Do what you have to do.
I love for my man to have nice, soft hands..sooo OF COURSE!
It is common in other nations for men to have nail care done at the barber shop. It is increasingly common for men to have this care in the US.
YES, it is just like taking a bath, they also need to take care of themselves

...men, shave their legs too, get bikini waxes,...i saw an add for men makeup that i thought was just pushing it a bit
    yes
    err maybe

    but then again no
    Sure, why not .....
I don't mind to have it done.

Yes, I actually prefer the so called ';metrosexual';. I like a man that takes good care of himself and has a nice clean appearance. There is nothing appealing about being dirty or unkept. You can be a man, and have a manicure done, while keeping your hetero-sexuality in tact!
    sure it's ok.

I work with a former military man who gets pedicures sometimes. Not to look pretty or anything... He says it feels like you have new feet.

How many men there get manicures?

I have once. Hey my girlfriend at the time did things to me to make me say yes. Oh Yean lol.How many men there get manicures?
none dat i know lolHow many men there get manicures?
REAL MEN DONT....WE CLEAN AND TRIM OURSELVES.....REALLY NOW!!!! MANICURES FOR MEN.....
Amazingly there are many out there that do, and although I thought It'd only be men with ';questionable'; tastes, I've found out that also manly males get manicures, it just couldn't believe it, but apparently it's something very relaxing, also pedicures.

Regardless of what they say, I won't get one, it's just a choice.

Do you think french manicures look tacky?

Not at all. I think that they are incredibly classy. I think that the fake fingernails can look sort of tacky though. Feel free to wear them. I got them done and they were great while they lasted. They did not last long because I'm always drawing or typing...Do you think french manicures look tacky?
No! Did someone tell you that? I think they look better than 90% of the other type of manicures out there. That is just my opinion. I think that coloful nails/color polished nails make a person's hand look dirty. French manicures are nice and clean cut. Didn't mean to offend, if I did!Do you think french manicures look tacky?
Not at all. I think gaudy colors and doo dads on fingernails are tacky. I believe that the french manicure was created as a subtle more subdued look; embellishing on the look of a typical nail.
with huge eagle tips yes! with natural nails they never get old!
No. Just as long as you do not go overboard and they are your natural nails.
No!! They look clean and classy.
    yes.
    no, they are very classy
    no

Why do women get manicures and pedicures?

because we like them!!!Why do women get manicures and pedicures?
so that their nails and toes get cleaned, cut, filed,

and polished. Manipedis are the way to go, even for

men.Why do women get manicures and pedicures?
because its hygeine to keep your finger nails, your hands, your toe nails, and your feet clean and ';trimmed'; and tidy.... Also, what would you think if you saw a female walking down the street with half broken nails, dirty and her toes half grown out and green and all callused and dry??? (YUCK!) also, getting the services done relieves tension because you get to relax by getting pampered and with the massage that they give you....
    because we're ugly
dude, com'on, you know why...not only does it make you feel well taken care of and pampered...you end up looking EXTRA sexy afterwards!

    : D
It feels nice to be pampered. The nail places usually give your legs, feet, hands, arms and back a nice massage. It looks pretty, too.
First of all, the reason why I do is because I love being pampered. It makes me feel beautiful. Also because don't like having dirty or un-kept nails because it just shows how my hygiene is. Not a good look to walk around with nasty hygiene...
im 16 and i have never had one

but... i bet you would be complaining if your girl had nasty toes and fingers!
It makes your nails look better an well done. Instead of gooing to a salon, you can do them yourself at home.
Because it makes your nails look nicer, and your feet look better.

A mani/pedi is not just about your nails. They also massage your hands and feet, cut away dead skin and generally make them look healthier and well cared for.
because it makes ur feel good and stress free for while and it makes u look much cleaner
Well, we do it to get our nails done. We prefer having nice shaped nails. Men can also do manicures and pedicures, but it's their choice to either do it or not...

I have dry cuticles and my nail dont grow, I've tried getting manicures, lotions.....?

My cuticle are so dry they crack and bleed, plus i pick at them, not bite but i'm a bad picker. To the point where they bleed, i cant help it. I wear gloves at nite with lots of vaseline. That helps but once i stop i'm back with dry nails. Help..........I have dry cuticles and my nail dont grow, I've tried getting manicures, lotions.....?
dont get manicures that probably the probablem they ruin ur nails!and vasilene should help but u should always keep puttin lotion on so just do the same u do just dont pick if u dont they will get better and if u want ur nails 2 grow put clear nail polish on it makes them grow fasterI have dry cuticles and my nail dont grow, I've tried getting manicures, lotions.....?
I have the same problem, Im an Esthetician (skin care therapist) and my hands are in chemical peels and exfoliants all day so it drys alot. I wish i could give us both the answer, but i can tell you some things that help me. I do my own manicures, but without soaking in water. I use a chemical cuticle eleminator by a company called ';be natural'; and then u push the cuticals back (if they are cut open it may burn a lil) then i trim the dead skin thats hanging off with trimmers. the I use a medium grit file and i file off the dead skin. and apply rose oil (the one i have is aveda they also make tea tree whic is even better for healing i just have alot of rose left over). this keeps them smoothe and soft for about a week or 2 and keeps me from pickin the hangies..... I have learned that much like your hair the more you stimulate the cuticle the faster the growth. I try to file them as much as i can maybe once a week and now they grow like weeds! it took a while but they are hard (used to be thin and break) and strong. Again i dont know a real FIX but i do know this helps. I hope it helps you! good luck!

Does the bad economy mean that teenagers will have to give up cell phones, starbucks, manicures and get jobs?

Excuse me, before you stereotype, maybe you should actually know a bit about what you are talking about!

I didn't get a cell phone until I was 18 and could afford to pay for it myself. I had a manicure once for my graduation, that I paid 7 dollars for. I have had a job since I was 14 years old. I pay for everything I have. I had my daughter when I was 18 and I have never been on welfare. I bust my *** at my full time job and also to go college full time. Is there anything else you care to ***** about? If so, make sure you know what you are talking about first instead of venting on yahoo. Does the bad economy mean that teenagers will have to give up cell phones, starbucks, manicures and get jobs?
I guess so! teenagers nowadays are so spoiled and especially the ones that come from low class families. Things in this country sometimes work so backwards, people that really don't have a lot of money, want to come across like they're big spenders and act like hotshots with their new phones, overpriced sneakers, designer ghetto clothes, tacky jewerly and daily McDonalds and chinese take-outs but yet they live in deplorable conditions and some can't even pay their rent but hey! the government is always there to bail them out and continue giving them their welfare checks. So, yes! they will have to get off their a***s and get jobs, anyways no matter how bad the economy is, minimum wage jobs will always be there. Does the bad economy mean that teenagers will have to give up cell phones, starbucks, manicures and get jobs?
I would not consider that to be a ';bad thing';. It will pave the way for teenagers to understand what is really going on with the economy and the country, how this affects their lives, and make them realize the importance of being frugal, living within their means, and know that money should be used wisely, and not on frivolities. That to me is the silver lining with the economic crisis.
If the economy goes down the toilet, you'll be lucky to find a job. The ones who get to keep the toys will be the ones who find a way despite the economy, or somehow make everyone else's bad luck into their good luck (zig when the world zags).
I don't think we're headed for a depression like the doomsday crowd thinks, but yes, it will be a hard recession and especially the younger folks are in for a bit of a shock. They'll have their own ';cultural recession'; possibly.
It's funny that you're asking these questions as if you're a minimalist. Last I checked, you're on your computer, a nonessential item, and I bet you have a cell phone too.
I earn a a lot of money but my kid works at BK so what is your point? He is an honor student and has worked for almost everything he has. Not all teenagers are the same.

Do you have some resentment issues?
No, the bad economy means that there will be less jobs available to teenagers to begin with.
This is a stupid question! If you think this is why people are worried about the economy you have issues!
I think that they should anyway! Get jobs and pay there own damn bills.
    The illegals took all those.
That or they will be standing on the soup lines.
    That depends on the person.

    Are french tip manicures trashy?

i haven't had one since my senior prom, but my boyfriend and i are going on vacation, and he likes them. i dont' get manicures anymore b/c i own a cafe and they would just get ruined. so i figured, now's the time to get one. so, are they 90's thing? Are french tip manicures trashy?
hope not as my nails are so hard the tips are white naturally.

if your boyfriend likes, then do it.Are french tip manicures trashy?
no i think they are still in style. the ones i think are trashy are when the white tip is a different color like a red or something. i dont think it looks good. but white tip i think is classy!
not at all. they are very sleek, sexy, and classy and perfect for a vacation!! treat yourself
i think they are classy. If you want something a little different, try French tipping in a different color!

    Pleez answer mine!

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
no they are really nice they are a classic style and i don't think that they will ever go out of style (that is unless your nails are 3 inches long...that was a 90's thing that rightfully ended quickly)
No! i think there clean and beautiful.
    no they are stylish
Not trashy at all. I prefer however to paint them a whole color.
they are still in style, probably the most popular style

my mom always said they were trashy though becasue she says prostitutes would paint the tips of their nails white kind of like a french tip to hide the dirt they got under their nails whle walking the streets, so she ruined them for me kinda
no i dont think so. i really like them!
No it's not out of date.

I've not seen trashy people wearing it either.
they are cool. Remember, trashy is a matter of opinion. If you and your boyfriend like em then get em
In my opinion french manicures are one of the classiest choices you can choose. They are clean not overbearing with color and all around the best choice in my opinion.

驴?驴manicures and pedicures?驴? how to do them myself驴?驴?

';i love having my nails being pretty, but im not rich. how do i do them myself? list full steps and please be as detailed as possible! I ll take anything! NO SPAM PLEASE';驴?驴manicures and pedicures?驴? how to do them myself驴?驴?
Either buy a manicure/pedicure set and they'll give you instructions, or either go to a nail salon and pay for it.

Personally, I would just skip the manicure and pedicure and just pay for about 8-10 dollars (for nails) and let the professionals do help me paint my nails.

Also, you can also let your friend's help you paint the hand you have trouble with.

First, you exfoliate your hands. Vaseline and either salt and sugar, plus rubbing vigoriously can exfoliate. Wash it off too.

Apply base coat, wait for it to dry. Should take about 10 minutes.

Apply color coat, wait for it to dry. Should take about 10 minutes.

Apply another color coat so the color will not be watery and it gives the color its full potential. Wait for it to dry for 10 minutes.

Apply a clear top coat. This will seal in the color. Wait for it to dry for 20 minutes. Please don't touch anything or else your nails are ruined. Don't touch them to double check too.

After, don't take a shower or wash the dishes, anything to do with water. We don't want it to wash off, in case if it's not fully dry.

Then, apply hand cream and massage it into the cuticles. Then, cut the little skin peels that stick out.

Enjoy! =)驴?驴manicures and pedicures?驴? how to do them myself驴?驴?
1)Trim and shape your nails. An emery board should be used, for those with weak nails avoid nail clippers for this stage. Most people shape their nails squared or rounded. Square nails are strong and resilient but snag easily and the corners can scratch. Rounded nails are somewhat weaker but won't have the problems of square nails.

2)Soak your hands in warm water for 5 minutes

3)Gently push back your cuticles with an orange stick then trim them off carefully with nail clippers. You can buy special clippers for this job.

4)Apply 2 coats of nail hardener. At this stage if you want to paint the tips of your nails (the white-ish bit) with white nail polish before putting on the nail hardener. You can buy guide stickers for doing this.

To look after your hands (and cuticles) rub them with moisturiser daily to stop the skin from getting dry. To take care of your nails, treat them as though they're always freshly polished and avoid banging them too much. Use your fingertips instead of nails for typing (although tapping your nails supposedly helps them grow). Avoid using nail polish remover more than twice a week.
before paiting your toe nails give yourself a foot \massage session then do the same to your fingers and hands
Get the nail set from wal~mart
You could go to any drug store, buy clear fake nails and then buy some mainicure nail polish and do the same thing with toes...oooorrr you could just by the fake nails that are like 10 bucks and have them done already for you in the package at any drug store. %26lt;3krista

    Manicures...How Long to they Last?

I'm getting my first manicure for my 13th Birthday on March 1st and I was wondering how long the manicure (nail polish) stays on your nails.Manicures...How Long to they Last?
well it depends. it will depend on the kind of nail polish and daily activities.

for example either buy your own no chip long lasting nail color and top coat and bring it with you so the manicurist can use it on you

and if you do dishes at home wear gloves. hot water and dish detergent can damage the top coat therefore ruining your color.

    and keep your hands moisterized.

follow these and it can last around 2 weeks

Girls would you feel wierd if your BF got manicures?

my Ex and I would often get them together. They would be different, I wold get a manicure done that was done for guys. I like them and I thought women would see that I am well kept and neat. She said it was too wierd and felt like she was dating another woman.Girls would you feel wierd if your BF got manicures?
Mine gets manicures, pedicures too pretty regularly.

We do it together at home even since I have all the stuff and I've done my beauty school bit. It's a nice way to spend time together.

He was antsy about it at first but after I broke him in he got to liking it and would go get them done when I didn't have time. Now he said even if we broke up he'd keep doing it haha =o)Girls would you feel wierd if your BF got manicures?
Yes, I guess so because it's just not something normal in society. So it would make me feel a bit weird. But I'm all for people having their choices and not always giving in to gender stereotypes so I'd accept it.

But seeing as I never get manicures myself and I think they're an unnecessary waste of money, plus those nail salons really smell disgusting, I wouldn't really want to be with somebody who was into that sort of thing because it would show we had really different preferences (and probably in other areas as well).

In some countries a man has to have well-kept, long nails to show that he doesn't have to do manual labour!

    Harriet
hahahaha..this is so funny. Sorry hun but it really is a turn off.

My ex from highschool always had nicely kept nails, his mum would do them. At first i thought it was cute, but er...it was kinda odd.

2 years on and now he is an in the closet homosexual.

No matter what you think, im pretty sure most chicks would rather be attracted to a rugged manly man then a well kept and neat young lad.

The thought of a straight guy getting a manicure makes me cringe.

    sorry! :\
You're probably spending too much time with women, my friend. Hang out with other guys and stop this metrosexual crap. You're undermining your own manhood and turning women off. I think that you would be happier if you followed my advice.
Stop worrying about what others think. Do what makes you comfortable and happy. People will think your odd or unusual no matter what you do. I guess the only exception to this is if you complete conform to society. Then some may just think you are bland. Be yourself!!!!
if you were not getting polish or a clear polish-I may not be completely weirded out.

    But 'natual' colors? come on!

Be a man, have rough hands. Just rub some lotion on those paws and call it a day!
as long as he wasn't get pink with rhinestones and little hello kitty stickers, I am fine with it

  • Do you have to have a license to do manicures/facials?

if you are good at it and charge people? if not what are the risks involved?

:)Do you have to have a license to do manicures/facials?
You are required to have a license to be a cosmetologist if you want to work in a shop or charge people. The risk of not having a license is you can be charged with a misdemeanor crime of practicing without a license.

You can also be sued if someone gets an infection or reaction to something you used, but having a license will not protect you against a lawsuit.

Do you have to have a license to do manicures/facials?
Yes. If not you can get arrested and go to prison.
You can get sued if the person you are doing this job to, gets fungus or an infection after your work. It is really important that you get your license. It doesnt even take that long to get it
Yes you must have a liecese and pass the test in order to obtain license. Risks: fines, lawsuits, jail....Why risk this. Take the class, take the test, pay the fee and operate legally. Plus you need city, county, state license for you business. Cannot obtain those without being a licensed person.
    Yes, in every state.

google ';vietnamese nail shop infections'; for an example of what can go wrong.

Do you get manicures, have your nails done, or just take the clippers to them when they bother you?

If I get my nails done I do them myself as I do not trust the nail salons equipment. If you keep them filed neatly on a weekly basis, you wouldn't have a problem with them getting out of the way. Also use a curticle remover every other day to keep your nail bed looking fresh.Do you get manicures, have your nails done, or just take the clippers to them when they bother you?
don't every take clipper to you nails you should always file them downDo you get manicures, have your nails done, or just take the clippers to them when they bother you?
I have acrylic nails that I have filled every two weeks and a pedicure at the same time. I have been doing that for 35 years. I love to garden and am very active and those nails are handy for all sorts of things.
I trim them, file them and paint them myself.
For special occasions, I have my nails done if it's a rare and formal occasion, otherwise, I prefer to do them myself. It's much cheaper (;0) )
I file my own nails...clip them if necessary.
There have been times in my life when I felt self indulgent and got my nails done, then after a few weeks I get sick of the bother and rip them off again. It's a vicious cycle.

How to take off french manicures at home?

If it's just polish, use regular remover.

If they are acrylic nails, you might want to get some salon strenght acetone (fingernail polish remover) and soak them for a few minutes. After you get them off, you will probably need a buffer to smooth down your nail. How to take off french manicures at home?
are they acrylic tips? or just nail polish? if it just nail polish just wipe with nail polish remover, if it is acrylic nails soak in acetone based polish remover and then clip with nail clippers and peel them off

Anyone else really like french manicures on their nails?

i'm like, obsessed with them. i have medium-long nails and either do clear or a french manicure. anyone have any french manicure color ideas or favorite kinds that they do?Anyone else really like french manicures on their nails?
I love the french manicure look!! Its simple, clean, classy, versitile %26amp; fashionable.

I like to cover mine with a polish I got from Mary Kay that has tiny tiny sparkles in it.

Do you do your toes too? It really looks so fresh and... well... manicured!Anyone else really like french manicures on their nails?
Yes, I love french manicures! I am not very good at them though so I have my friend do them for me.
I haven't had one, but I would like to get my toe nails french pedicured.
i think the french manicure look is over done.

time for something new. i've been seeing the french manicure since the disco era... (late 70s)

    egads.
i like the french manicure with a small line of another color under. it looks really cute and fun. i usually get a pink or orange line. it seems to cheer me up! = )
Yes I absolutely love the French manicure! I mix it up sometimes by getting a deep plum color on the tips of my fingers. Or using a light peach color instead of a pink for the base.
I love them! I sometimes get little rhinestones on the top part of the white. Add a nice bit of flash. Once in a great while I'll get a different color .. but I really think the pink and white are the best. But for some nice flash get the rhinestones! It looks great!

At wannado city do the kids give you manicures or adults?

    Both of them do

How damaging are manicures to your nails...?

I was wondering how damaging is a manicure to the nails...because I've have a lot of manicures and when I remove the gel off the nail it looks pretty bad and the nails are more brittle. Thanks. How damaging are manicures to your nails...?
They are bad for your nails, epspecially your cuticles.

They glue is harmful and the plastic nails=a no no.

Try to grow them out and they have paints or finger nail polish that are maincute based, and they can make them look they are fake!

Good luck. ANSWER MINE??How damaging are manicures to your nails...?
If you mean acrylic, its pretty bad. You almost have to keep them on at all times because your nails are in such bad shape, I mean the nail tech literally files your real nail down to attach the fake one.

I took mine off in June 2008, and they were just grown back out around Christmas. That's the beauty of it, they will grow back. So its really up to you...
Terrible but ya know what your finger nails grow 4 times as fast as your toe nails and so they are back to normal and pretty very fast. DOnt worry about it.....

Maybe give them a breaks..... let them grow out and you wont have as many problems but yes its terrible for them until the damages grow off.
i had my nails done with acrylic and OMMHHHH MAN!!

i literally had a hole in my thumb nail because when they took it off the thing they were using dug into my nail and it went right thru!

    it was so bad.

    very damaging.

    GROSSS

oh yeah and thats not me
I know your nails look gorgeous with the manicure on them, but it really is damaging. Like you thought, it does leave your nails weak, brittle, damaged.
dude that stuff eats away your nails every time you get them it takes off layers of your natural nais till theres just skin :/

Women should not be allowed pleasure of any kind.

By the way what are you doing on a computer... get back to cooking.
Maybe do your own nails, take a cell phone and call a friend, text message, Take wild photo's with a camera, get a friend to come to work and speak with you, OR touch yourself, put your ';time of the month fluid'; into a nailpolish bottle and apply to nails.
I suggest working on a crossword puzzle. Suduko has been pretty popular lately. Or read a book. I am currently reading ';One For The Money'; by Janet Evanovich. It is the first of her Stephanie Plum novels. I am enjoying it very much and I would highly recommend it.
    dont use one??

Manicures for men, is that common?

I thought maybe movie stars, or the swishy types would do this, but it seems to be more common. I live in a rural area, no one out here has heard of such a thing.Manicures for men, is that common?
It is common amongst the homosexual community.Manicures for men, is that common?
Only gay males get manicures, AND I HATE GAYS!
I'm in college and also learning how to do manicures. I have asked guys to let me practice on them and they have let me. But, I think the only reason they let me is because they think I'm pretty and like the idea of a pretty girl holding their hand for 30 minutes. I even noticed one getting a rise in his Levi's. heeheehee
sigh. i hate tht trend. tht just irks the crap outta me tht guys would care so much about their nails...i dunno.

I go to a nail salon in my town.

    And I paid $17.

    I got acrylic nails.

They were short, zebra at the tip.

The ring fingers had a flower at the bottom.

    It even included the gel.

    They looked really good.
where i live, fake nails are about 20 dollars with a student discount :) if you're just getting them painted with a little design or whatever they range from 10 to 20 dollars :)
typically i think they range from about $25-40 .

  • Do you get pedicures or manicures?

Do you think they're a waste of money? I do. I used to get them but I realized I can actually do a better job myself and save money. Also there is so many germs and crap thereDo you get pedicures or manicures?
Where I go, it's very clean and I don't have a steady enough hand. I don't think it's a waste of many. I have acrylic nails so they won't start looking bad as fast, plus the people where I go are very good at what they do. I don't think it's a waste. All in the sake of being a fine female XDDo you get pedicures or manicures?
I agree , I don't see the point in going out and paying people to do my nails when I can do them by myself and make them look just the same.
uh! i think the point of going to get those done is to treat yourself to something you cant always get! personally i don't have the time or cash to be waisting but if it was me i could id get it done once in a while and in a sanitary place! spa maybe!
I usually only get them for special events, they usually get ruined right away anyway. So yes, it is a waste of money

Do shop teachers get a discount on their manicures?

    Just the wood shop teachers.

Ahhh, memories of Ol' 7-fingers Murphy...Do shop teachers get a discount on their manicures?
try this product! Show of hands it is called and it is a instant manicure! works great and can be used daily !

https://www.beautipage.com/lbourdet/Do shop teachers get a discount on their manicures?
no. if they did they would all have nice nails!!! lol

    cute question though!

Are manicures and pedicures okay for kids under 13?

    lol.

yeah:)Are manicures and pedicures okay for kids under 13?
yes, just make sure its in a good place that is well-ventilated, and if the kid is under the age of 8, that is when I think it becomes a bad idea. But I had my first pedicure when I was 9 at a salon.

Another idea would just be to paint your kids finger nails at home, and you can even look up recipes for at home natural nail polish, so thats always a fun projectAre manicures and pedicures okay for kids under 13?
absolutely. though i just had my first mani/pedi done last week, and i'm 20! haha.

it's quite expensive, though, and the manicures only last a few days.

if she wants the spa experience- i'd recommend going for the pedicure. mine's lasted 3 weeks, and i thought it felt much nicer than the manicure!
I would not recommend pedicures, because they scrub their feet. This will cause them to have dry, cracked, and worn-out feet sooner. And nobody likes that. Pedicures should be for adults with foot aches, or bad feet.
i dont see why not, all it is, is cream used, nothing harmful, to be on the safe side, i would recommend not getting their cuticle cut just pushed back, to prevent them gettin cutt, other then that, its very relaxing!!!!!
Yes, especially for weddings, but it shouldn't get to the point that they expect it on a daily/weekly basis. But I also think that it's not necessary below the age of 8.

    Hope this helped!

    -Lyssa :)
As long as they don't get nicked. That can open up to infection. You know how kids are about washing their hands....not enough. I think a 13 year old would think a manicure is cool!
i think its fine. but if your under 10 i dont think you should get fake nails.

but painted is fine for all ages.
i dont recomend it because it makes them want to look older and act older and it might make their minds more like sponges and do what older people would do
i wouldnt get them a manicure/pedicure..they dont need one..

just get their nails painted..its cheaper...they dont need their cuticles cut or nails filed..just painted...
    they are okay

    but a bit chavvy

if you live in the UK you will know what that means
of course! but i wouldnt suggest anyone below maybe 8 getting them.

    :)
    now their face will deteriorate
no, they 're KIDS not TOYS.
    Yes.
    Yeah, why wouldn't it be?
of course! they are very fun, too.
yeah. i got several before i was 13
sure but it seems like a waste of money

What do like better manicures or pedicures?

why? What do like better manicures or pedicures?
Manicures because everyone can see them not unlike pedicures which probably could not be seen because you wear shoes. What do like better manicures or pedicures?
    neither..because i'm not fruity?
I'm a guy but on girls I like pedicures better but that's because I'm attracted to feet =]
Pedicures, I never do a good job when I paint my toes myself.
pedicures bcuz women have 2 make sure their feet look nice @ all times
    Manicures.

I don't like people touching my feet.
    Pedi!
    pedicures :)
    none
I don't really like my feet, and although I've never had a pedicure I'm sure I would much rather have a manicure.

Do you guys pay attention to little things like manicures or pedicures that girls get done?

noDo you guys pay attention to little things like manicures or pedicures that girls get done?
I don't think they do. They're too busy thinking with their pe***is!Do you guys pay attention to little things like manicures or pedicures that girls get done?
yea we do. there's an old saying if a girl dosent take care of her hands and feet she probably dosent take care of her *****. If you think about it for a couple of seconds it makes since.
    yep i do thank you
    yes or no cant say
Yes they do. Especially pedicures. A guy will purposely look down at your feet when you are wearing tow bearing shoes to see if you have one. A guy once told me that if a girl doesn't care for her feet there is a chance that she doesn't care for other areas of her body that need upkeep. I have had more than one guy say that. I was in the Navy around 100s of guys and it is the general consensus. And for manicures...its the same thing. A guy knows that you are well groomed and its appreciated.
if they notice its cause he really cares, and he wants to be with you. but if he doesn't its only cause most guys don't look for the obvious things that we do.
To pedicures -- Not really, unless of course there is a foot fetish, then it would be noticed and commented upon immediately. As far as manicures -- Sometimes, nails can seem intimidating or a turn on to some. The color, depending on depth or brightness may or not be noticed, but I think ';something'; on or done to the nails adds some sensuality/sexyness to the person. That being said, I'd say perky breasts and a shapely bottom still rank higher than a manicure or pedicure!
yes i love getting them. i like getting my crotch waxed too.
no because they aren't life changing events
Of course they don't! It's a waste of time %26amp; money.
i hope cause that's at least 40 bucks down tha drain every two weeks
Maybe when you first meet them %26amp; they are trying to impress you.
No. But we would notice if you had dirty nails.
They probaly do notice but when we get manicure but dont really care unless he's cleancut or preppy, but,I do notice guys looking at my nails when I get pedicures..lol
No. I care about my wife, but I don't stare uncontrolably for hours on end noticing everylittle thing. I'm not that shallow.
Yes!!! I didn't think so untill my asshole neighbor made a comment about my toes when I was just chillin' in my own house. I mean damn... It wasn't like I was outside flaunting them in open toed shoes or anything. Give chics a chance to relax for a chance. I'll get them done when I want to cute for whatever reason, lol
No. A question for you, do girls do stuff like manicures and pedeicures for themselves or for guys?
Yeah, they do %26amp; they're also gay!

Just kidding, I know some straight fellas who notice stuff like that, but I would have to say the majority of guys don't get past checking out your rack!
i dunno. i would say sometimes. my bf notices sometimes but not all the time. at first i would get kinda upset cause i want to look pretty and for him to notice. but then he said he thinks im beautiful regardless if i have a pedicure/manicure. so i dont worry about it anymore. it is nice to get that compliment though ';your toes look beautiful'; 鈾モ櫏
Yes men pay close attention to both depending on their status
paying attention..............hmmmmmmmm! i can jsu say tht we GUYS appreciate......all effort taken by a girl....................to maintain her beauty...thru out.................
They notice if they really care about you/ stare at you when they talk!
I think straight guys tend to pay more attention to the overall picture.

Like, if you get a manicure, they may not notice it specifically, but they may notice that you are more confident/happy/sexy because you feel prettier.
I know my husband like my manicured and pedicured hands and feet. He loves them to be polished. Bon~

Are white tip manicures still in style?

Just wondering. Are white tip manicures still in style?
they're a classic look so they'll always be in style because they look like your nails, only betterAre white tip manicures still in style?
As a guy, the French manicure (what I think you're describing) is the ONLY style I consider classy (and they always will be, IMO, because they're simple and clean, but they dress it up a little). Most other nail finishings (weird colours, little icons, etc) are just cheesy.
    They are classic.

    So of course.

And if you want to jazz it up a little pick a color and use it as a ';french tip'; instead of white.
do u mean French Manicures.. like that.. uhh yes! i loove them! eventhough im not allowed to get fakenails.. i still love them!
there called French Manicures and they will always b in they r classic
as in french manicures? yeahh;; dont get black, it makes yur nails loook dirtyy.
Yes. Toes look great with the white tips also. Great for summer with a tan!
    Absolutely not.
yes, i see people with them all the time.

    so are painted black fingernails.
yea they'll like never go out of style and if they do then

    that sucks
yea but i would go w/ a funky color but thats just my perzonality!
for like dances and stuff, but just to wear its def black tip
    of course they are!

    they are clasic.

What do you mean adult toy? Buy a tamagochi!

Women, what are you thoughts on a man that shaves all body hair, gets manicures and pedicures and waxes brows?

Personally, I think Metro's are HOT! But don't shave all your hair - leave your underarms, legs, and arms alone. You can trim your underarms, but don't shave it all off. I personally prefer no chest hair. Mani's and pedi's are OK - I think it's good to take notice of how your hands look. Just don't use any polish. And brow waxings are fine as long as you just shape them slightly - don't have them arched like women do. My hubby does most of these things and he's super hot!Women, what are you thoughts on a man that shaves all body hair, gets manicures and pedicures and waxes brows?
shaving all body hair is kinda GAY and vain.

mani's and pedi's are OK. no waxing unless you have caterpillar brows.Women, what are you thoughts on a man that shaves all body hair, gets manicures and pedicures and waxes brows?
He may be metro sexual..............Or Gay.

I don't think I would be with a guy who is as feminine as me
I think if they are so worried about those things they wouldn't have enough time for me. They wouldn't have enough money for me to have those things done also. i think that I like a rougher man.
if i wanted to date a woman i would become a lesbian. but i like the hairy chest thing my self. manicures, pedicures and brow shaping are ok as long as the guy is still masculine.
My thought would be that hes in touch with his feminine side. I guess its normal if he does this once a month but to go every weekend and to dedicate his weekends to get his pedicure then maybe hes too into himself. I dont think he should make it a public announcment but its nice for a man to keep clean when going on dates and stuff. I think its pretty cool.
Waxing all the hair I would hate. I think a little bit of chest hair and leg hair is sexy(no back hair though, ick)!! Mani's and pedi's are great, it means he cares about the way his hands and feet look and feel. As for the brows, as long as he's not doing anything girly with em then I'm okay with it. But I don't really think it's necessary unless there is a unibrow going on or something.
Either very well-groomed or gay. Sorry, just telling the truth.
I couldn't be with a man who shaves all his body hair - I couldn't accept that. I think that it is normal and even sexy for a man to have body hair. I am a woman who takes care of her own manicures and pedicures at home and so I would expect the same of the man in my life. As far as waxing brows, I think it is something that a man should do only when he has a uni-brow or unbelievably bushy brows. I want my man to be a man. And a man that goes to the salon more than I do is not the man for me.
    HE'S GAY!!!!!!
well i would get the a asumption that you were slightly camp but makin your self look nice is not a problem it dousnt matter dous it . if yhu dont tell nobody no one will know.
That he is either Metro Sexual, Gay, or has Metro Sexual tendencies. Cuz he's hairy, so he feels the need to wax and shave. Enjoys to keep himself prim and proper, so he also enjoys pampering himself with a mani and a pedi?

Does getting the cuticles trimmed during manicures make them drier later?

it depends on the produst/lotion the (manicurist?) uses on your hands. some lotion dry out your hands and thus including your cuticules.

like their job name? (eg nurse, lawyer....etc) what are these people called, who do manicures? and is it a good career? anyone know anyone who is/was doing manicures for job or do you/did yourself? if so, tell me about your experience please(and what you think are the advantages, disadvantages), thank you!A person who does manicures: WHAT ARE THEY CALLED?
    I believe they are called a ';manicurist';

My mother has been working in a nail salon almost all her life and she always says it's the best career for middle age women (especially ones who just came to America from another country) She says it isn't tiresome really. However, the thing she doesn't like about it is that, sometimes the customers can be very picky... and violent =X She makes a fair salary though :)

I don't know much about the experience if you went to beauty school and whatnotA person who does manicures: WHAT ARE THEY CALLED?
i would say a beautician only because i leave the salon looking better then i walk in.
    manicurist
A manicurist. It's usually just 1 of the talents that a great hair stylist might have to offer thier clients!!!
    They are called Philipinos.

Are manicures and pedicures done better with or without gloves on? Does it feel any better or different?

Does the massage part feel better without gloves though? Are manicures and pedicures done better with or without gloves on? Does it feel any better or different?
The massage has to be without gloves.

But the manicure and pedicure itself, with or without gloves , doesn't make much difference.

I am going to start doing manicures. i have to supply all the product and i get 40% and the owner gets 60%?

what kind of records do i need for taxes and what kind of spread sheet will be user friendlyI am going to start doing manicures. i have to supply all the product and i get 40% and the owner gets 60%?
You can use a basic spread sheet although I wouldn't work for someone that wanted me to supply all of the product and they keep most of the money. It should be an even split 50/50 or I would move on. If they were supplying some of the product then I could see them doing that. The owner would have to give you a 1099 for your tax records. Good luck.I am going to start doing manicures. i have to supply all the product and i get 40% and the owner gets 60%?
That deal of 40/60 split you are not considered an independent contractor and could not deduct anything. Do not sign that deal. Tell the shop owner you wish to operate as an independent contractor and will just rent space in her shop. That means you are responsible for income taxes, both Federal and State. Also Social Security, Medicare, Workmans Comp, then there is Liability Insurance. The best way is to give her the 60% but she buys the product and handles all taxes and insurance.

My cousins from D.R don't wet their hair, get manicures, or eat acidic fruit during their period. Why, anyone?

I did ask them why they did this and was told that this is how they had been raised (Dominican). They were told to follow this protocol by elder family members, but not why, and they never questioned it. Hence, I am on Yahoo answers hoping somebody can shed a little light on this.My cousins from D.R don't wet their hair, get manicures, or eat acidic fruit during their period. Why, anyone?
Its probabaly just tradtion. I doubt there is any specific medical basis for it but rather somethign that has just been passed down from generation to generation.

I imaging their hair get a bit greasy though not washing it for a week!My cousins from D.R don't wet their hair, get manicures, or eat acidic fruit during their period. Why, anyone?
I am afraid these are some of the urban myths surrounding periods, someone either decides that such a thing should not be done and have passed on this to other people who in turn pass it on and so on and on until it is passed on to people as a fact. As far as I am aware there is no scientific reason for these myths.

If its just waxing his chest id say thats pretty normal but anything else like legs isnt! Pedicures really is not normal for a guy though
    YES

    he's metrosexual

    totally normal
he is either gay or he is one of those dudes that enjoys taking care of himself! there are many men that are like that... they seem more feminine then girls
    id say hes a gay

best thing to do is hot scald him with a bucket of hot oil

to rid him of his gayness as all gays deserve a second chance

    at being straight
    normal
It's completely normal, and it's NOT gay at all.

At least he looks after himself.
Yeah, when there is a imbalance of hormones this is very common
Not in a mans man type of world it is not.

    very feminine trait.

Does not mean he is gay of course.
Not normal, but he's not alone.
    abnormal
I guess he just wants to look good, nothing wrong with that.

    :)
Only if he's gay? Or just really vain.
Meh... theres all sorts of people in this world..

What IS normal nowadays anyway... lol

Giving Pullips/Taeyangs Piercings, Tattoos and Manicures?

I have a Taeyang doll, and i was wondering what i should use to paint his nails, give him tattoos and pierce his eyebrows... Any help? The doll is supposed to look like Bill Kaulitz of Tokio Hotel, and yes i know there already is one like that, but I can't find any referencesGiving Pullips/Taeyangs Piercings, Tattoos and Manicures?
Use acrylic paint, slightly watered down (practice on a cheaper doll if you haven't done this before) to do any details such as nail polish or tattoos, or makeup, etc. Use sealant overtop - you may want to pick matte for the tattoos, gloss for the nails. I use Delta Ceramcoat, but there are plenty of brands available.

As far as piercings...again, I suggest practicing on a cheaper doll of similar material. I admire Pullip/Taeyang/Namu, but don't have any yet so I'm not sure, are they vinyl? If so, I suggest using a thick needle that's been heated over a flame a bit (not closely enough to char the needle). It can also help to steam the doll's head over a cup of hot water first to soften it a bit. Just a warning, using metal jewelry in a vinyl doll generally leads to the surrounding ';skin'; turning green over time.

dont flatter yourself, they dont give 2 shts about youDo the chinese women that give manicures always talk bad about you in chinese?
No, that was just in a movie! Well, I don't know, if you are rude to them maybe they will.
You know how some people flit in and out of English %26amp; another language when they're talking without even realizing it? (I actually have one friend who is bilingual, who will be talking to you in English but will randomly blurb into Spanish without realizing she's doing it!)

I was getting my nails done one time, and the women doing them was randomly throwing in English while talking to a coworker. She said, ';ugly man hands';. :(
    yes they have.

so one time, i went with my good friend to get our nails done together at an asian nail place.

i talked to my friend in viet and i looked viet.

BUT i am also chinese... i can speak both languages fluently.

and u know what? the asain lady started saying bad and rude remarks about my friend in chinese.

i understood EVERY word she was saying to the other lady.

    DON'T TRUST THE CHINESE LADIES

that is such a good question. im forever watching them to see if they look at me in a bad way. they shouldnt be allowed to talk chinese when sum1 is there jkjk but i have always wondered that
Yes. LOL. My grandfather sat in with my wife one time, just in ear shot, and he heard them saying about other clients ... ';oh wow, look at her!'; ';she is gross'; and the other clients never knew, obviously. He is very, very fluent in Chinese.
YESSSS.. adnd talk about how hairy ur legs are (if i havent shaved) it is so freakin annoing

How much do french manicures cost?

thanks! How much do french manicures cost?
It depends on where you go. It could range anywhere from $25-$40.How much do french manicures cost?
    About $30.
    most places-35
Like 25$ but with a special design or colour it is 10$ more :] pretty but expensive
    They usually range from $15-$30
around 40 dollars. but it depends on who you get them done from.
At the place I go now they cost $35 but at the place I used to go they were $28. They can be any where around there depending on where you go.
they usually cost about 20 dollars or so.....I got one once and it costed about that much...

It didn't last long though...probably because I had to clean dished and it chipped off

    but yeah: 15-20$
depends where you go. There is a really crappy nail salon in my town that will do them for 15$ but the lines are uneven and they are like...abusive haha. Usually 30$ is a good estimate.
depends on where you are. my town a reg. manicure is $12 and french is $5 extra. you gotta really make some calls to local salons!
It depends where you go but if you want the ';fake'; nails its about 35 dollars and 5 dollars for a fill.
depends on where you live and if you go to a nail salon or spa. i'd say shop around and expect to pay at least 15 (10 for a basic manicure and 5 for the french).
I think that it's 20 to 30 dollars. I prefer doing it by yourself it's really easy and you could save money! If you want to do it then just get white and clear nail polish. Then get tape and put it in a strait or curved nail shape. (with all of you finger nails) Paint it with the white nail polish and let it dry. Take the tape off gently. Finally paint it with the clear nail polish and let that dry. Voila!
i went to a shop and had it done for $8 but it can be from 8-20.
It's according to which you get...they can paint it on (approx. $10) or you can have acrylic nails put on and they put a clear coat on (approx $25) or you can have gel nails put on..these cost about $35 but don't yellow in a tanning bed....my personal fave is the gel nails, they look beautiful!

Is it possible to catch HIV from manicures/pedicures?

I just has a mani and pedi done 3 days ago and a few hours before I had my toes done, I had cut my ankle pretty bad while shaving. I had 2 bandages over it, but there was also another cut on my ankle that wasn't covered. Anyway, do you think it's possible to catch HIV or any other serious disease from a foot bath? Also, when I got my fingernails done, The woman accidentally cut me with a cuticle cutter. My cuticle bled pretty bad and it still bled a tiny bit a few hours later. I washed my hands like 5 or so minutes after she cut me. Then she continued on my nails. I don't know how long after, But when she was done I wiped that finger with a wipe. She repainted that nail too. Since it was their nail polish, Do you think I could get a disease if the polish went into the cut? A few hours later I put bactine on the cut and a band-aid as well. As for the cut on my foot, I washed that cut hours later that night and I think I put bactine on that too.Is it possible to catch HIV from manicures/pedicures?
Yikes! Way too much blood for the manicure/pedicure salon! While the transmission of HIV would literally require your open wounds to come into contact with live virus (we would have to assume unclean instruments that had RECENTLY come into contact with HIV), it is, theoretically possible. You would, however, be at risk for many other infections (bacterial, fungal) with your open wounds as these are common at manicure/pedicure salons regardless of open wounds. Hope this helps!

By the way, if you have any concern, ever, that you may have come in contact with HIV - please get tested! Is it possible to catch HIV from manicures/pedicures?
thanks, you just made me not want to go to the nail salon.
    probably not

hiv is spread through contact with infected needles

    sex

there are some small other instances but i can almost 99% guarantee u wouldn't have got it
HIV and other bloodborne pathogens can be caught in this matter. ANYthing that can cut - is called a sharps in the medical profession. If the salon does not use reputable sterilizing methods - example, an autoclave - it could be possible to transfer infections from one client to another. Ask questions - do they sterilize their equipment between clients?

The health risks associated with the beauty industry include viral infections such as HIV, hepatitis B and C, and warts; bacterial infections such as staphylococcus, streptococcus, and psuedomonas; fungal infections such as athlete鈥檚 foot, nail fungus and yeast; reactions to nail, hair and facial products such as hand eczema, eyelid dermatitis, chemical burns, and loss of hair or nails; toxicity from acrylic and lacquer fumes; inappropriate use of chemical peeling solutions; and the delayed diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer and other skin diseases because of failure to refer clients.

Just google - HIV and nail salons. I do not mean to burst anyone's bubble, but this is quite possible.
.I was listening to a news article this last year on nail salon's.

It is recommended that you purchase all your own items needed nail clippers, toenail clippers, files, cuticle cutter and polish and remover, etc. Put them all in a special bag for just that purpose, and have them use your tools on you each time you are there. You do use your own tooth brush and comb, don't you? You sound as though, you are in a panic on this though. Check with your family physician and family and explain the situation, get tested to relieve your fears. If you do

prove positive, and the salon charged you for the procedure,

    they can be sued.

Years back, when I was at an airport. I never had a shave

with a straight razor before, so I spent the extra money just

for the experience if it. I was cut on the chin during the shave,

so they refused to charge me. When I told this to the person

sitting next to me. He told me if he had charged me. I could

    have him sued.

So if you do test positive, sue the hell out of them.
no offense.. but please GO INFORM yourself. i hate questions like this!

but to answer it anyway no its not possible. HIV is transferred through blood transfusion, needles
Not HIV, but definitely Hepatitis C is a risk factor. I don't think in your situation it is a problem. The golden rules are don't share your nail clippers, razors or tooth brush. It is possible to catch a fungus of sorts at some of these places just pay attention to their sterilization process. The facts can be found at the National Institute of Health website.
I don't think so. If it was a transfusion of blood, yes. But I am always wondering about these places doing manicure and pedicure. They do not clean the scissors or clippers the roper way. I have seen them cleanings them with the same water you put your feet on.

What is the history of French Manicures?

When it comes to fashion, simply having the word “French” in the description of an idea can yield big bucks. In 1975, Los Angeles-based Orly International, a nail care company, introduced what has become known as the French manicure. Truth be told, the French manicure never had that much to do with the French (other than for the Parisian runway models who sported the look). The classic French manicure actually was created for myriad Hollywood starlets looking for a clean-yet-polished look for their nails.
