I am going to start doing manicures. i have to supply all the product and i get 40% and the owner gets 60%?

what kind of records do i need for taxes and what kind of spread sheet will be user friendlyI am going to start doing manicures. i have to supply all the product and i get 40% and the owner gets 60%?
You can use a basic spread sheet although I wouldn't work for someone that wanted me to supply all of the product and they keep most of the money. It should be an even split 50/50 or I would move on. If they were supplying some of the product then I could see them doing that. The owner would have to give you a 1099 for your tax records. Good luck.I am going to start doing manicures. i have to supply all the product and i get 40% and the owner gets 60%?
That deal of 40/60 split you are not considered an independent contractor and could not deduct anything. Do not sign that deal. Tell the shop owner you wish to operate as an independent contractor and will just rent space in her shop. That means you are responsible for income taxes, both Federal and State. Also Social Security, Medicare, Workmans Comp, then there is Liability Insurance. The best way is to give her the 60% but she buys the product and handles all taxes and insurance.
